On the 16th of May in the year 2000, Professor Ishaq Ahmad, who was serving as Chairman of Pakistan’s Atomic Energy Commission at the time, formally opened NCP.

NCP call letter
The Center is now an agency that receives funding from the government and is allowed to act in any way that it sees fit. In its early days, the center operated out of Quaid-e-Azam University in Karachi as its home base.
