Chromosomes are thread-like structures found in the nucleus of living cells. They are primarily composed of DNA, which carries genetic instructions, and proteins (mainly histones) that package and organize the DNA. This DNA-protein complex is called chromatin. RNA is involved in protein synthesis but is not a structural component of chromosomes.
