The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the second-largest intergovernmental organization after the UN, has its permanent headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Established in 1969 following the Al-Aqsa Mosque arson, the OIC moved its headquarters temporarily to Riyadh during the 1980s before returning to Jeddah. It comprises 57 member states across four continents.
