The Battle of Ajnadayn (634 CE) occurred near Beit Guvrin, Palestine, where Khalid ibn al-Walid (R.A.) defeated the Byzantines, opening Jerusalem for conquest. This decisive Muslim victory (during Caliph Abu Bakr’s reign) shattered Byzantine defenses, enabling the later Siege of Jerusalem (637 CE) under Caliph Umar. Today, the site lies near Israel’s Beit Shemesh, with archaeological evidence of the battle’s scale.
