The Battle of Uhud occurred on March 23, 625 CE (7 Shawwal 3 AH), one year after Badr. This defensive battle saw 700 Muslims face 3,000 Quraysh near Mount Uhud. Despite initial success, Muslim archers abandoning their posts led to temporary defeat, with 70 martyrs including Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ uncle Hamza (RA). The battle established key military lessons about discipline and obedience in Islamic warfare.
