The Pakistan Army Armoured Corps currently comprises 52 regiments. Headquartered at Nowshera Cantonment, this elite combat arm serves as the army’s primary mobile strike force, providing critical offensive and defensive capabilities across various terrains.
Historically, the corps began with only six regiments inherited from the British Indian Army in 1947, including legendary units like the 5th Horse and 13th Lancers. Since then, it has expanded significantly to include a diverse array of units designated as Cavalry, Lancers, or Horse. Operationally, these regiments are organized into two dedicated Armoured Divisions and several independent armoured brigades.
