Biogas contains mainly which gases?

  1. Methane and Butane
  2. Methane and Carbondioxide
  3. Methane and Chlorofluorocarbon
  4. Methane and Argon

Biogas is mainly made up of methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂).

Typically, biogas contains:

  • Methane (CH₄): 50-75%
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂): 25-50%

It can also contain smaller amounts of other gases such as:

  • Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)
  • Nitrogen (N₂)
  • Hydrogen (H₂)
  • Ammonia (NH₃)
  • Water vapor (H₂O)

However, methane and carbon dioxide are the primary components that make up the bulk of biogas. The methane content is what makes biogas a valuable fuel source, as it is a combustible gas.Sources and related content
