Choose the correctly punctuated sentence with a parenthetical phrase:

  1. My brother, who lives in Paris is visiting soon
  2. My brother, who lives in Paris, is visiting soon
  3. My brother who lives in Paris, is visiting soon
  4. My brother who lives in Paris is visiting soon

Non-restrictive clauses (extra information) need commas on both sides. This follows Strunk & White’s rules. Without commas (options c/d), it implies multiple brothers. Restrictive clauses (essential info) omit commas: “The brother who lives in Paris is visiting.”
