The first youth to accept Islam was Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA). He was approximately 10 years old when he embraced Islam, shortly after the Prophet (ﷺ) received the first revelation. According to authentic narrations, the Prophet (ﷺ) received his prophetic mission, and the first to accept Islam was Hazrat Khadijah (RA), followed by Hazrat Ali (RA), who was living with the Prophet (ﷺ) at the time. His conversion as a youth marks him as the first male to accept Islam after the Prophet (ﷺ) himself, and the first child to embrace the faith. The distinction “first youth” highlights his young age, while Hazrat Zaid bin Harithah (RA) was a freed slave and the first adopted son, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) was the first adult free male. Ali’s (RA) early acceptance of Islam was natural, as he had been raised in the Prophet’s (ﷺ) household since childhood, after his father Abu Talib faced financial hardship. The Prophet (ﷺ) took him in and raised him, fostering a deep bond of love and trust. His unwavering faith and dedication to Islam from such a young age shaped his character. He would go on to become one of the greatest scholars, warriors, and leaders in Islamic history. His youth conversion is particularly significant because it demonstrates that Islam is a faith for all ages and that the Prophet (ﷺ)’s message resonated across generations. Ali’s (RA) lifelong commitment, from his childhood conversion to his martyrdom as the fourth caliph, exemplifies consistent devotion to Islam.
