Starlink Receives Green Light to Launch Services in Pakistan
In a major step toward expanding digital connectivity, Elon Musk’s satellite internet company, Starlink, has secured a temporary No Objection Certificate (NOC) to begin operations in Pakistan. The approval came in March 2025, following a thorough evaluation and consensus among all relevant regulatory and security bodies, acting on directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will oversee Starlink’s adherence to local regulations, including licensing and fee structures. The move is expected to significantly enhance internet access in remote and underserved regions, where traditional broadband infrastructure is limited.
While this is a significant milestone, experts suggest that it may take several months before full-scale services become available, as the company navigates infrastructure setup and final security clearances. Nonetheless, Starlink’s entry marks a promising leap forward for Pakistan’s digital future.
